Electric pumps: focus on the engine

Hydraulic Power Pack is a general definition describing devices which combines an electric motor to an hydraulic pump with the aim of lifting up, moving or gathering liquid mass while generating pressure.
It’s evident that this product category groups technical solutions with very different features: from the simple component equipping our domestic coffee machine up to the complex hydraulic power pack of an oil plant.

If we analyze carefully this huge scenario of solutions and relevant use, we are able to divide these products into smaller groups on the basis of the required power and the type of motor used.
Cima1915 operates in the highest category, thanks also to the renowned efficiency of its AC motors with medium electric capacity from 0,5 kw up to 20 kw.

This type of motors integrates perfectly either with positive displacement pumps (PDP) or fluid-dynamic packs assuring constant and longlasting power.
An investment in superior quality for products suitable to last longer.

Hydraulic Power Packs are really used in a huge range of sectors.
From the nautical industry as regards bilge pumps, windlasses and winches, up to the civil infrastructure sector where they are widely used with the aim of lifting and pumping groundwater, rain and run-off waters.
As well there is a large use of Power Packs in extraction, conduction and distribution of hydrocarbons in mining and extraction facilities.
As far as the environmental field, this type of products is becoming more and more requested for collection and disposal of wastewaters. We cannot forget the logistics industry where hydraulic power packs are important components for the traction in cranes, forklifts and scissor lifts. Last but not least the agricultural field confirms a large usage of these extraordinary products in complex water systems or also for irrigation, for example in Electric Water Lifting Pumps dedicated to lift water from deep wells and cisterns.

What feature should have motors used in so different situations?
First of all it is important to adopt the right electric motor suitable for a specifically required operation.
Each motor is classified by the power it provides. But often this kind of feature describes motors in a superficial way. The power output curve changes on the basis of peak use. It's quite evident that machinery and vehicles should operate thanks to motors able to supply sufficient, constant medium power in order to guarantee efficient and constant performances. As it usually happens, attention is caught by announcements about motors offering peak power output, as if high figures could assure the pumping system as "safe". But it is not true.
The real life of an electric power pack depends on a constant usage, with alternation of work peaks. Whenever it happens that the motor used is not able to guarantee high quality and constant performances, it will not support the pump's work in a continuous way, reducing severely the expected system's output.
CIMA's motors are conceived and implemented with the aim of being perfectly integrated with the designed industrial system. CIMA's technical team assists customers in the research of the most qualified and suitable combined solution to be implemented. Their engineers and technical operators will supply as well relevant complete documents and figures to guarantee the most efficient power sizing.
